What do we do?
Böhler is located in the centre of Amsterdam, on one of the city’s characteristic canals. We are a group of innovative, engaged, and independent-minded lawyers who deliver high-quality legal assistance to our clients.
At Böhler, the struggle for fundamental rights always lies at the heart of our work. If law is our means, then justice is our goal. More than any other law firm in the Netherlands, Böhler operates at the intersection of law and politics. We specialise in areas where state power threatens the freedom of the individual.
Böhler is known for the strength, persistence and intelligence of its lawyers. Where possible, we operate in practice groups to combine our expertise.
We are also known for our contribution to the academic world. This is partly due to our close ties with a large number of top universities, particularly the University of Amsterdam. We liaise with the Amsterdam Law Clinic, a programme for talented students of international law.
Britta Böhler is attached to the University of Amsterdam as professor for legal practice, Liesbeth Zegveld is professor of international humanitarian law at the University of Leiden and Göran Sluiter is professor of international criminal law at the University of Amsterdam. Other lawyers at the firm regularly lecture at renowned institutions and publish in leading journals.
