Michiel Pestman is particularly active in the field of international criminal law. He is on the lists of defense counsel for the International Criminal Courtthe Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, the Special Court for Sierra Leone and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former YugoslaviaHe frequently gives lectures in his specialist field to students and fellow lawyers.

Michiel Pestman is currently in Phnom Penh where he serves as international counsel for Nuon Chea before the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia.
