Children who have been illegally adopted hold the Dutch government to account

< >

Amsterdam, 30 Mach 2018 - From 1970 onwards many children were adopted abroad by Dutch couples. The adoptions were arranged by Dutch organisations. The TV-documentary program Zembla has recently uncovered that in many cases, the adoption proceedings did not take place according to the rules. Today, many adoptees cannot find their biological parents. This is also the case for Dilani Butink. Together with her lawyer Lisa Komp she now holds the Dutch state to account for failing to prevent illegal adoptions.
