"East Indies-objectors" request review of convictions by the Supreme Court

Amsterdam, 14 December 2012 - In 1949 respectively 1946, Jan Maassen (1929) and Johannes van Luyn (1925) refused to be deployed to the former Dutch East-Indies to participate in the so-called 'police actions'; for that they were convicted by the Supreme Military Court in the 1950s.

On behalf of these East Indies-objectors (in Dutch: Indië-weigeraars), lawyers Liesbeth Zegveld and Brechtje Vossenberg filed a request with the Supreme Court of the Netherlands today that those convictions be reviewed.
